Tents for the teenagers to sleep in |
Helen and George have a very interesting story on how they met. Helen had moved from Canada to Sacramento and was
practicing nursing here. She had made several friends, including George's sister-in-law who also had been a nurse.
Helen needed a blood transfusion, so George's sister-in-law had asked George to donate blood and he would be guaranteed a
blind date with the recipient. Taunted with the idea of a blind date, George agreed. The tranfusion was successful,
Helen and George went on their date, and 10 months later they went to Reno, Nevada and were married. They had six children,
and now have 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They have been the center of their extended families lives as
well, keeping them in a tight-nit group. Thanks to them, we had 'adopted' grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins, etc.
